Alexander & Baldwin- (ALEX)-operates in transportation, real estate, and agribusiness industries primarily in Hawaii. Its Transportation segment provides ocean transportation services through the carriage of containerized freights between the United States Pacific Coast, Hawaii, Guam, China, and other Pacific island ports, as well as offers terminal and stevedoring services at the U.S. Pacific Coast facilities. As of December 31, 2007, it owned approximately 89,480 acres, consisting of approximately 89,120 acres in Hawaii and approximately 360 acres on the mainland, including retail, office, and industrial properties. Its Agribusiness segment produces bulk raw sugar, specialty food-grade sugars, and molasses; produces, markets, and distributes roasted coffee and green coffee; provides general trucking services, mobile equipment maintenance and repair services, and self-service storage in Hawaii; and generates and sells electricity. The company was founded in 1870 and is headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii.
