If you have patience, courage and the fortitude to zig when everyone else wants to zag, now may be the time to take another look at closed-end funds.
As you probably know, closed-end funds are an investment backwater. Unlike much more common open-end mutual funds (the kind everyone thinks of when they hear the term “mutual funds”), which issue and redeem shares based on investor demand, closed-end funds consist of a fixed number of shares that are listed and traded on an exchange. Closed-end fund share prices reflect demand for the investments that compose the constituents of the fund.
