Usually around tax time here in the U.S., you’ll start to see plenty of advertisements and studies related to retirement, retirement readiness and saving money. Studies titled “The State of Retirement” are usually followed by calls to invest in a firm’s mutual funds or other products. Usually, I pass over reading the studies. After all, we all know the numbers and data aren’t good; most Americans simply aren’t saving enough. There’s no need for a study to tell us that.
