“When you’ve got your health, you’ve got everything.”
My grandparents used to say that, but as a kid, I was too unaware – and, thankfully, too healthy – to understand the wisdom of what they were saying.
As we get older, however, we come to appreciate the blessing of good health. We’ve all had family and friends who suffered from an acute or chronic illness, and we’ve seen how devastating that can be. Poor health is also a huge expense, whether we foot the costs ourselves or our health insurers pay, or if the costs are borne by taxpayers through our social safety nets.
Health Costs Keep Rising
For those of us who pay healthcare costs ourselves or with help from insurance plans, there’s no escaping the rising expense.
