Some people are natural born go-getters. They’re up at the wee hours of the morning, latte in hand, attacking the day with vigor. They’re making their to-do lists and actually checking things off of them.
And sadly, there are the rest of us. We are victims of procrastination. The truth is, most of us would like to be in the first camp. But for whatever reason, we drag our feet. And that might be fine for sending out Aunt Susie’s birthday card or changing the furnace filter, but when it comes to investing, it’s costing us a pretty penny. The procrastination penalty is a very real phenomenon. It not only applies in how early we start investing, but even when we make our contributions within a given year.
Waiting simply reduces our returns… by a lot.
Luckily, we can change our investing habits and end our tendency to procrastinate. You’re on your own when it comes to hitting the snooze button in the morning.
