Since I’m in the advice business, I like to keep abreast of everything new and exciting in the world of investing, retirement planning and even items that matter to financial advisors/broker-dealers. And these days, there is a lot of advice out there when it comes to retirement planning. However, most of it – especially when you’re looking at ‘bloggy’ websites – tends to focus on mundane and junk advice.
If I read one more article on how not drinking $4 lattes from Starbucks (SBUX ) is going to net hundreds of thousands of dollars, I’m going to scream.
So whenever I find a website or article on practical retirement advice, I get excited. This time that practical advice comes from investment manager BlackRock (BLK ) and its investment blog.
Four Points to Take to Heart
During this past ‘America Saves Week,’ BlackRock surveyed 1,000 of its defined contribution participants –- so 401k/403b account holders – for their best pieces of information and tips on retirement savings. From that survey, BlackRock condensed the best tips into four main points.
