The Depression-era generation and millennials have a lot in common. Perhaps the biggest of which is that they came of age in two of the worst financial crises of all time. These events, the Great Depression and the Great Recession, helped shaped their attitudes toward money. Believe it or not, millennials are actually pretty savvy at saving, just like the Lost Generation. That’s the good part.
The unfortunate part is, like their ancestors, sticking to savings is a problem.
The millennials’ love affair with safe investments could be costing them plenty over the long haul. The generation needs to realize that stocks are still their best shot at a safe and secure retirement.
