It’s hard to believe, but the recession, global credit crisis and downturn were roughly a decade ago. So much has changed since then and the markets have recovered by leaps and bounds since the depths of the crisis. However, despite the long period of time and surge in equities, some sectors of the market have still struggled.
One such sector is basic materials and natural resource stocks.
The firms that produce and mine raw materials needed for a growing world have basically been in the dog house since the bubble burst in 2009. And as dead money, the sector has been pretty much ignored and left behind. But that seems to be changing. Rising commodity prices are finally changing the fortunes for the sector and that could mean it’s time to buy.
