It’s no secret that U.S. equities have been top dogs during the pandemic. As home to some of the largest companies on the planet, the United States has been a source of great returns during these tumultuous times. The prevailing idea is that betting on the “home team” is somehow safer than looking overseas. So, investors have focused more of their attention on U.S. stocks. A similar thing happened during the Great Recession.
However, in doing that, we may be missing out on other opportunities for growth and income. This is especially true as valuations for U.S. equities have risen to above historic norms. The reality is that overseas markets may offer the best bargains in the market today.
To that end, investors may want to break out their passports and look toward international stocks for their portfolios in the months ahead.
