And because of its size and stability, the firm has been a steady source of dividends and income. It’s one of the main “widow & orphan” stocks around. But lately, AT&T hasn’t acted like itself. Strange forays into media and non-core telecom businesses threatened the firm’s dividend and loaded it with billions of dollars of debts.
However, it appears that AT&T may finally be on track for long-term success once again.
With a much-needed dividend cut, a major spin-off of its media properties and a return to telecom operations, AT&T is back on firm footing.
