The pandemic showed how fragile the world’s logistics system really is, with delays and the inability to get needed materials and goods delivered at the right time. It also proved how tragedy could lift the fortunes of various shipping stocks. Logistics firms were one of the best performers amid the pandemic – surging in share price and increasing dividends by double-digits and, sometimes, even triple-digits.
And, it looks like the shippers may do it again.
Thanks to current tensions in the Middle East and continued demand pressures, the global logistics system is once again in turmoil. This means that after a decline in recent quarters, the sector could be again back in charge.
