When Warren Buffett speaks, investors tend to listen. But when Warren Buffett opens his wallet and purchases a company or stock, investors really take notice. Berkshire Hathaway (BRK-A) remains one of the largest long-term value investors with billions in assets on their books, so when the Oracle of Omaha actually makes a purchase it’s a big deal. It could be seen as a real stamp of approval.

And in May, Buffett gave his proverbial stamp to one of his favorite industries — insurance.

People forget that Berkshire is an insurance company, and its latest purchase of Chubb shows that the insurance industry is ripe for investment. For us regular Joes, we may want to follow Buffett’s lead — the industry offers plenty to be excited about.
